Monitor DNS record changes and detect unauthorized modifications
DNS Monitors
DNS monitors continuously check a domain's DNS records and alert you when any record changes. Unauthorized DNS changes can indicate domain hijacking or a misconfiguration.
Why monitor DNS
- Detect unauthorized record changes (DNS hijacking)
- Confirm that a server migration propagated correctly
- Ensure email records (MX, SPF, DKIM) are correct
Record types monitored
A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA, SRV, CAA
Creating a DNS Monitor
- Go to DNS Monitors → New DNS Monitor
- Enter the domain to monitor (e.g.
mysite.com) - Select the record types to monitor
- Set the check interval and configure notifications
- Click Create
On the first run, the monitor captures the current state as a baseline. Any change from that point triggers an alert.
Note: If you plan to intentionally change a DNS record, pause the monitor temporarily to avoid false alerts.
